Aim: To enable the participants: (i) to obtain advanced knowledge of laboratory and field testing methods used in research and in advanced practice to determine strength and deformation properties of soils. (ii) to write descriptive, factual and interpretive reports, and also to use the results in engineering practice. |
Contents: Stepwise and continnous consolidation tests. Strees path testing. Triaxial and shearbox tests. Stress-strain-dilatancy relationship of frictional. Behavior of normally consolidated and over consoilidated clay: Critical state mechanics, SHANSEP concept. Hydraulic conductivity. Model and centrifnge testing. In situ investigations. |
