Aim: To give theoretical and practical knowledge of important parts of non-aqueous chemistry, including special laboratory techniques that have to be mastered in experimental work. |
Contents: 1. Chemical part: Non-aqueous chemistry in inorganic media - especially molten salts - at low, moderate and high temperatures. Reactions in gas and liquid phases. Electrochemical, structural and thermodynamic studies. Technological applications: metal production, catalysis, advanced batteries, fuel cells, cleaning of stack gases. 2. Laboratory technical part: Glass blowing in quartz and Pyrex glass. Construction of laboratory furnaces. Measuring and controlling temperature. Vacuum technology. Measuring and controlling pressure. Leakage localization. Electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques. Glove boxes. Gas mask and filters. Fire fighting. |
