Aim: To teach students to:
- plan, structure and analyze plant facilities of an enterprise and to define their financial, technical, organizational, resource, and environmental requirements.
- design project plans for developing technical facilities of an enterprise.
- use analyses, techniques and methods for development, design and evaluation of technical solutions to plant design problems.
- design systems for monitoring the operation and maintenance of the plant.
Contents: Tasks and issues of factory planning in different lines of business and the life-cycle of an industrial plant, i.e. concepts and design, establishment/construction, purchasing/sales, operation/maintenance. Also covered are the principles for the design of industrial plants, including:
Preconditions for plant planning. Methods and strategies of factory planning. Layout. Environmental demands. Work-environmental demands on facilities. Warehouse systems. Transportation. Equipment. Automation. Monitoring systems. Plant maintenance.
