01245 Functional Analysis
Danish title: Funktionalanalyse

Type: Å, Language: E
Credit points: 7,5 point
Previous course: C0145
Offered by: Department of Mathematics (MAT)
No credit points with: C0145
Prerequisite: 01030/01031/01032/01034/36260
Recommended semester: 4th -7th semester
Scope and form: 2 lecture modules and 1 hour of problem solving per week.
Examination: Approval of coursework and oral examination ( pass/fail )
Contact person: Michael Pedersen, MAT, Building 303, Tel. +45 4525 3063
Aim: To provide the student with a knowledge of certain main areas within functional analysis. Functional analysis is a generalization of classical mathematical analysis and is the basis of modern mathematical treatment of problems within technical science, to which differential and integral operators are applied.
Contents: Banach space and Hilbert space. Bounded and unbounded operators on Hilbert space. Differential operators and distributions. Sobolev space and the Fourier transformation. The course ends with some examples of applications within technical science chosen by the students.
