Aim: Training the mathematical way of thinking.
Enable the students to use mathematical methods in solving technical problems.
The student should be able to
a) make complex number calculations and to calculate roots in algebraic equations.
b) calculate solutions of ordinary linear diffenrential equations and of systems of linear differential equations.
c) make use of Laplace Transforms in finding the solutions of linear differential equations and of systems of differential equations.
d) set up Fourier Series of periodic functions.

Contents: a) Complex numbers in ordinary and polar forms. The binom equation. deMoivre's theorem. Algebraic equations. The complex exponential.
b) First order differential equations. Seperations of variable and linear equations. Second order linear differential equations with constant coefficients. Systems of differential equations.
c) Laplace Transforms of elementary functions. Rules of differentiation and integration. Decomposition. Shifting properties of Laplace Transforms.
d) fourir Series of odd and even functions. Orthogonal set of functions.
