Aim: The aim of the course is to enable the students to:
1) understand the possibility of using CAD in the different phases of the design process
2) understand the structure and the utility of different levels of CAD/CAM and CAE in the design environment (Concurrent Engineering)
4) analyse specific problems in CAD/CAM and CAD/CAM applications
5) obtain the basic knowledge of the use of at least one advanced CAD/CAM-system.
|
Contents: Theory: CAD versus the classic design theory. Structure and utility of CAD/CAM-systems. Modeling, remedies for design, design variants, development of applications. Interface to FEM, CAM and numerical control, fields of development in CAD/CAM, Costumising 3D CAD-systems, Concurrent Engineering.
As a part of the course the students have to use advanced CAD/CAM-system (Pro/Engineer) in connection with weekly exercises, and a bigger individual task, which has to be presented to the class in a lecture.
