Aim: To give the participiants an understanding of and knowledge about the problems and solutions that are associated with the development of mechatronic products containing mechanic as well as electronic and software parts. This is achieved through the development of one or more small mechatronic products.
|
Contents: The lectures give an overview of the specific characteristics of mechatronic products. The properties that make mechatronic solutions attractive compared to pure mechanic and electromechanic solutions. A major problem associated with the development of a mechatronic product lies en balancing the contents of mechanic, electric and software components. The factors influencing this type of decisions are identified through exemplification by a number of product- and project examples.
At the beginning of the course a number of project ideas are available. The groups select among these a project that contains electronics as well as software and mechanics. The product can typically be an apparatus or device to control mechanic processes through actuators amd sensors.
The emphasis of the course is placed in the development of the product idea, i.e. the functional principle, mechanic-, electronic- and software design. A number of design concepts with different contents of software, electronics and mechanics are investigated. Among these a promising candidate is selected for a functional model.
Each group makes a report which describe the design process and especially the criteria used for the selection of the principles for the functional model.
