Aim: For a specific (relatively simple and well-defined) production situation to enable the students.
- to carry out materials and capacity planning and draw up realizable production plans baed on goven decision rules and by use of models/methods/techniques presented inthe course,
- to evaluate the consequences and the applicability of the selcted models/methods/techniques.

Contents: The production firm as a controlled system - types of productions - the production control system (function, structure and interactions with the production system and other control systems) - decision variables in material and capacity planning, e.g. deterministic and stochastic inventory models, material requirements planning (MRP), Gantt-charts, network analysis (PERT), Just in time (JIT) and Theory of constraints (TOC). Everywhere speciel importance is attached to single unit production (ships).
