Recommended semester: 4th -7th semester
Scope and form: Lectures, exercises and review of written exercises.
Examination: Written exam (13-scale)
Remarks: The students are presumed to have a profound knowledge of simple analog electrical circuits, including Bode-plots, coupled resonance circuits and basic mechanical physics.

Department: Department of Acoustic Technology
Aim: To give the student a basic knowledge of acoustics and electroacoustic components to an extent that allows him to understand and evaluate the acoustic elements in telecommunication systems and in using electroacoustic transducers. Further, the course introduces electroacoustic measuring and calibration techniques.
Contents: Dynamical analogies between mechanical, acoustic and electrical systems. Transducers: loudspeakers, headphones, microphones and accelerometers; theory, constructions, directivity and radiation properties, measuring and calibration techniques. Electroacoustic communication systems: loudspeaker installations, PA-systems, induction loop systems, speech intelligibility. Room acoustics: Assisted resonance systems etc. Sound perception: subjective evaluation of communication systems.
