Contents: Lectures on the theoretical basis of separation and detection systems. Theoretical and instrumental introduction to HPLC, GC, capillary electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, two dimensional electrophoresis,centrifugation, amino acid analysis, and protein sequencing. The experimental work will include sample preparation, column packing test, and evaluation of columns and separations of amino acids, proteins, vitamins, lipids and membranefractions from different types of tissue. The utility of the methods will be judged with special attention to their compatibility with the stability of biological material.
