Aim: To give an introduction to calculation of beams which forms the basis of subsequent courses, in such a ways that the partipants will be able to
1) calculate reactions, internal forces, and deformations for statically determinate and statically indeterminate frame and truss structures and
2) calculate the stresses in such structures.
|
Contents: The principle of virtual work. The physical conditions of beam deformations. Calculation of beam deflexions by means of the principle of virtual work. The force method for calculation of statically indeterminate beam structures. Technical theory of elasticity for beams, calculation of cross section constants and calculation of stresses and deformations from normal forces, shearing forces and moments. Examples of simple steel-, concrete- and timber beams.
