Aim: The fundamental principles of optoelectronics and optoelectronic systems are introduced giving a basis for further specialization within the optoelectronics area. The student will learn fundamental semiconductor optics and physics relevant for emission and detection of light. Optical components like light emitting diodes, laser diodes, optical amplifiers and modulators will be treated.
|
Contents: Introduction of relevant semiconductor physics including doping, carrier transport and the pn junction. III-V semiconductor processing. Optical properties of semiconductors including loe-dimensional semiconductor structures. Optical components. Signal processing and noise including modulation and amplification of light.
