Scope and form: Independent practical work for a period of three weeks, with an experimental task or computer simulation.

Remarks: On the first day of the course the students can choose between a number of specific project suggestions, which they then work with in groups of 2-3 students

Department: Research Center COM
Aim: To train the students in practical experimental work in the laboratories or within the field of modeling and computer simulation. The specific projects relate to the research conducted at COM.
Contents: Projects within glass and semiconductor devices, as well as optical communication systems and networks. The task may be to characterize basic properties of glass or semiconductor materials or devices, for instance using laser spectroscopy; investigate the practical application of a photonic device in an optical communication system; or to work with modeling and computer simulation of advanced devices or systems.
