Aim: To give the student an opportunity to work on a specific task, and thus obtain training in working with projects and writing reports.
|
Contents: Work on a specific assignment in relation to research projects within COM. Topics include among others: 1: Design and modelling of special optical fibers or planar waveguide components, fabrication and characterization of waveguide components, waveguides with gratings and photonic bandgap structures. 2: Synchronous networks, asynchronous networks based on ATM and IP, transparent optical networks and electronic switching. 3: Optical communication systems, multiplexing and high-speed electronics. 4: Theoretical semiconductor optical physics, modelling of devices for optical communication systems and optical characterization of semiconductor materials and components.
