Department: Department of Electric Power Engineering
Aim: After the course the participants are expected to be able 1) to perform more advanced calculations relating to illuminating engineering, particularly in connection with indoor lighting installations, 2) to state how, in principle, the lighting of a workplace with certain associated tasks should be arranged, and to perform a systematic measurement and assessment of the illumination at a workplace and in individual premises and 3) to perform simple calculations for assessing the effect of daylight on the illumination and thermal load of premises.
Contents: Calculation of: Luminaire efficacy, transmittance and reflectance of louvers, illumination from extended light sources, interreflection in rooms, luminance of surfaces in rooms. Divided up visual tasks into graeps according to the conditions that determine their visibility. Principles of illumination of different working tasks. Quality criteria and recommendations concerning lighting of workplace and premises. Calculation of discomfort glare, vision reducing glare and contrast reduction. Components of daylight. Calculation of daylight factors. Measurement and evaluation of lighting installations.
