Aim: On a field-theoretical basis to give the students an experience in formulating equations suitable for numerical solution. Furthermore, to enable the students to apply numerical methods to solve simple electromagnetic problems.
|
Contents: A selection of the following methods for microwave and optical frequencies: Asymptotic techniques. Differential equations. Eigenfunction expansions. Finite difference - and finite element techniques. Physical optics and physical theory of diffraction. Geometrical optics and geometrical theory of diffraction. Integral equations. Inverse scattering. Matrix equation solvers. Method of moment. Network models. Spectral techniques. Application of such methods for investigation of radiation from satellite antennas, scattering from radar targets, field propagation in waveguiding structures, and electromagnetic imaging. In the course work, computer programming and calculation are employed to solve specific technical problems.
