Aim: To familiarize the students with the basic mechanisms of heat and mass transfer and to qualify them to estimate forces, pressure drop, heat and mass transfer etc. in different flows.
|
Contents: Molecular exchange of momentum, heat and mass. Basic equations describing convective heat and mass transfer. Laminar heat and mass transfer. Turbulent exchange of momentum, heat and mass. Analogies between transfer of momentum, heat and mass. Practical examples include: channel flows, plane boundary layers, falling films and cooling by evaporation.
