Department: Department of Solid Mechanics
Aim: Obtaining practical experience in using basic and advanced experimental methods for characterizing mechanical vibrations, deformation, strain and stress.
Contents: Measuring deformations by using holographic interferometry. Measuring strain with uniaxial and triaxial strain gauges. Determination of stresses using two- and three-dimensional photoelasticity. Measuring material properties with a computerized tensile testing machine. Determining characteristics of mechanical vibration by using strain gauges, holographic interferometry and FFT-based modal analysis. The laboratory exercises involve computerized data acquisition and digital signal and image processing.
