Aim: To improve the understanding of the principal problems of vibrations and stability. To enable the student to deal with complex problems of mechanical vibrations. To enable the student to recognize and analyse essential phenomena associated with nonlinear vibration and stability.
Contents: The eigenvalue problems of mechanics, problems of vibration and stability, mechanical nonlinearities, forced nonlinear vibrations, perturbation methods, local geometrical theory, stability analysis, bifurcation theory, model reduction, nonlinear parametric systems, internal resonance and modal interaction, chaotic vibrations in mechanical systems, diagnostical methods, predictive methods, quantitative description of chaos, spacial chaos.
