Aim: Explaining the background of nonlinear material behavior in metals, polymers, ceramics etc., and practicing the application of material models describing plastic as well as viscous behavior, with focus on modern computational methods. Describing analyses of structural collapse.
|
Contents: Deformation- and flow theories for elastic-plastic materials. Convexity and normality. Micromechanisms, leading to inelastic deformations. Variational formulations and equilibrium equations. Numerical solution of elastic-plastic problems, including beam, plate and shell structures. Plastic buckling, collapse, and tensile instabilities. Perfect plasticity and limit load analysis, including upper and lower bounds. Viscoplasticity, including strain-rate sensivity of plastic flow and creep at elevated temperatures. Numerical solution of elastic-vicoplastic problems.
