Aim: To introduce the students to modern optics including diffraction theory, coherence theory, Fourier optics, optical analog information processing and application of coherent optics such as optical information processing and holographic information storage.
|
Contents: Coherence theory. Scalar diffraction. Fourier-transforming properties of lenses. Optical data processing of 2-D fields of information. Spatial frequency analysis and filtering, image improvement, and pattern recognition. Holographic data storage and its application for recording of 3-D images, holographic interferometry, and holographic optical elements (DOE).
