Aim: The purpose of the course is to teach mainly the special theory of relativity with those students in mind, who will require some knowledge of relativity theory in subsequent subjects. The course is also aimed at students who, for reasons of all-round education, would like some knowledge of the subject.

Contents: Relativistic kinematics, including the derivation of the Lorentz-transformation and its kinematic consequences (length contraction and time dilation etc.), relativistic treatment of optics, dynamics and electromagnetism. Mass-energy equivalence. Four-vector theory. The general principle of relativity and some of its consequences.
