Contents: Plane stress and strain fields, Mohr's circle, equilibrium and compatibility, Hookes law. Elastic beams, strain and stress distribution, Navier's formula, Grashofs formula, principle of virtual workand complementary virtual work, deflections. Torsion, strain and stress distribution. Statically indeterminate structures, the force method, the displacement method. The finite element method for plane frames.
