Aim: The aim of the course is to give the students a basic knowledge of the subjects, methods and principles that are used in traffic- and town planning; with special weight on fields which are relevant for civil engineers. The course also contains a tuition in Hiighway Engineering to introduce the basic concepts of Highway Engineering.
Contents: National, regional, municipal and local planning, history of town planning, urban patterns, urban structures, urban renewal, slum clearance, housing, living environment, environmental impact assessment, local agenda 21, environmental planning, environmental protection, protection of Nature, legislation, traffic systems, traffic reorganization, traffic noise, air pollution, accidents, public transport, traffic prognosis, capacity, cross section, sight distance, horizontal and vertical alignment, pavement design.
