Aim: To give the students a basic knowledge of theory and practice in coastal and harbour engineering.
Contents: Waves, wave mechanics, wave refraction, wave diffraction, wave reflection, breaking waves, wave forecasting, effect of waves on structures. Breakwaters (shore-connected and offshore). Shore protection. Basic concepts of sediment transport. Wharves and piers. Marinas. Offshore structures.
