Aim: The aim of the course is to give the students an understanding of power production, forms of power and changes in thermal systems, transmission of heat, temperature scale and measuring of temperatures.
Contents: Power production e.g. Windpower, Power and heat stations. Thermodynamic systems,
Thermodynamic variables, equations of states. The first law and second law of thermodynamics, Entropy, Thermodynamic cycles. Heat flow and equivalent of heat flow in apparatures, thermal resistance. Transmission of heat,
Thermal radiation, Blackbody radiation, emission. Free and forced convection.
Heat sinks. Temperature and measuring of temperatures.
