Aim: To enable the student to perform simple calculations, design and measurements relating to rectifiers and power suppplies. Design decision tools using solution spaces with border limits and level curves are used to illustrate principles of optimum design. Basic principles for production, transmission and distribution of electric power.
|
Contents: Single phase transformers as a component in electronic circuits. Rectifier circuits. Power supplies with linear regulators and switch mode regulators. Switch mode regulators includes forward and flyback converters with and without galvanic isolation and boost converters. Switch mode motor drive. Power and voltage in three-phase systems and load flow. Generators, transmission lines, transformers, circuit breakers, relays and fuses. The application of high voltage direct current (HVDC) is mentioned.
