Aim: To give the necessary foundations for analysis and design of common discrete control systems, with a view to the application of computers to control systems. (Discrete control systems can be characterised as feedback systems, in which one or more signals are sampled periodically).
|
Contents: Mathematical description of sampled data signals. Analysis of discrete control systems (z- and q-transformation, stability criteria, frequency and root locus analysis). Design of discrete control systems (PID controller, optimal design, including dead-beat (time optimal) design and minimisation of a quadratic performance index).
