Department: Department of Buildings and Energy
Aim: To give a basic knowledge of house-building, including building technology and engineers' participation in the building design. By this the participants gain an introduction to building in general and the many subjects and considerations that form part of the design process and they become able to analyse and sketch simple buildings and components.
Contents: The basic and detailed design of buildings (function, statics, climatic influence, materials, building technology etc.) are presented through work with selected examples. Prefabricate building and modular design are briefly introduced and the engineers' part in the building process is dealt with, including the relations between engineer and architect. Formulation of problem, analysis and the subsequent synthesis with the forming of solution models are practised.
