Aim: To give the students experience in experimental work in biotechnology and to demonstrate the subjects of Applied Microbiology and Fermentation Technology (30001) experimentally.

Contents: Cultivations with yeast and filamentous fungi, herein recombinant microorganisms. Fermentation physiology. Batch cultivation, chemostat and dynamic experiments. Simulations of cultivations and theoretical calculations from experimental data. Morphology, aeration and reology. Analysis of bioprocesses, metabolites and process variables. Downstream processing.
