Aim: The aim of the course is to give the student an understanding of the basic principles of technological operations related to processing of biological materials
|
Contents: The content of the course is an introduction to planning, strategy and use of techniques to e.g., concentration ( ultrafiltration, precipitation), clarification/separation (aquaous two-phase systems, chromatographic techniques) related to the purification of molecules of biological origin. The practical exercises will illustrate these techniques illustrated by the purification of an enzyme. The applications will be illustrated/tested in different scales (from ml to kg) to make clear the problems of upscaling.
