Aim: The aim of the course is to give the students insight and practical experience in todays problems and methods for water pollution control and wastewater treatment, to such an extent, that they will be able to take part in the development and decision making for their solution.
Contents: Practical control of the water quality in an aquaculture unit. General water purification processes, some of which take place in the rainbow trout farm. Mass balances for Zn, N and P for the trout farm.
The analytical methods comprise: Atomic absorption. Flow injection analysis. Chemical destruction. Biological degradation. Ion selective electrodes for O2, Cl- and H+. Anaerobic of sludge, methods for determination of xenobiotic compounds in different environments. Recipients.
Water quality parameters COD, SS, VSS, TS, TSG. Sedimentation. Anaevubic stabilization of sludge, methods for determinetion of xenobiotic compounds in different environments. Characterization of recipients (field measurements)
