Aim: The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with the theory behind industrial, computerised controllers. To give the students a working knowledge of modern control theory such that they are able to handle also those control problems that cannot be solved by classical methods.
Contents: Sampling, z-transforms, process controllers, process/computer interface, discrete time control algorithms, model based control, process identification, adaptive and selftuning controllers, digital filters, examples on complex control systems. Lab exercises on process dynamics, controller tuning, PLC.
