Aim: To teach the student integrated knowledge of physical, chemical, technical chemical and economic methods for the solution of a minor problem within planning, dimensioning, or running og a chemica/biochemical plant or part thereof.

Contents: 1) Definition of the problem and selection of the proces. 2) Material and energy balances. Flow sheets. 3)Selection of materials for construction. 4) project planning. 5) Economy: Fixed and working capital, annual costs, costs optimization. Financing. 6) Risc and safety analysis. 7) Pollution problems. Environmental laws and regulations. 8) Occupational health and safety. Social aspects. 9) Detailed discussion of for instance one or more of the following items: a: Instrumentation b: dimension of pipework and wessels for selected items.Preparation of specifications. c: pipe and instrumentation diagrams for selected items. d: heat exchanger calculations. f: plant economy. g:plant organization. h: environmental and pollution problems. Working environment.
