Aim: To give the students theoretical and practical knowledge of how to plan a surveying task, measurements by satellites (GPS) and adjustment of surveying observations; to give knowledge of projections, technical and administrative maps, geographical information systems (GIS) and photogrammetry.
Contents: introduction to the theory of adjustment, estimation of accuracy and prediction of the quality of the resulting co-ordinates. Introduction to datum and map projections, surveying networks, positioning by satellite observations (GPS). Introduction to photogrammetry for mapping. Information on Danish maps (topographical, land register, technical) and geographical information systems (GIS). Examples of surveying and engineering projects in Denmark and abroad. The report involves planning of a GPS network.
