Aim: To give the students insight into concepts and methods within transport systems. To establish an overview by use of a systems analysis approach.
|
Contents: Structure and development of transport systems. Concepts and techniques. Model theory and development. Determination of traffic flows: traffic counts and traffic analyses, traffic demand. Traffic models: zones, trip production trip distribution, modal split, assignment, etc. Transport networks. Capacity and travel speeds. Traffic safety. Consequence models for environment and energy. Project evaluation: economic concepts, cost benefit analysis, multi-criteria models. Theory of planning and decision making. During the course theory is illustrated by exercises; some of these are based on PC-programs.
