Aim: To enable the participants: (i) to obtain advanced knowledge of laboratory and field testing methods used in research and in advanced practice to determine the strength, and deformation parameters, and hydraulic properties of soils. (ii) to write descriptive, factual and interpretive reports, and to use the results in engineering practice.
|
Contents: Stepwise and continuous consolidation tests. Stress path testing. Triaxial and shearbox tests. Stress-strain-dilatancy relationship of frictional material. Behavior of normally consolidated and overconsolidated clay: Critical State soil mechanics, SHANSEP concept. Hydraulic conductivity. Model and centrifuge testing. In situ investigations.
