Aim: The course has the following aims:
To raise the student's understanding of the importance of industrial design in integrated product development.
To enable the student to see and understand industrial design qualities.
To give insight into the professional means of an industrial designer.
To develop motivation, knowledge and skills for a good co-operation with industrial designers.
To raise the understanding for timely co-operation with industrial designers in product development projects.
Contents: The course is project structured, the participants solve small tasks in the first 1½ week and one larger task the last 1½ week. The teaching style is a mix of lectures (where basic concepts are related to the projects) and practise (training the use of marker, rendering, sketching, modelling). The course has the following foci: Perception, ergonomics, communication, quantitative characteristics, user interface, ethics, aesthetics, market, environmental questions, intuition, innovation.
