Aim: To understand the role of technical system (TS) for covering needs, their development and life cycle. To understand TS's structural characteristics and their relation to properties and quality. To understand the relationship between TS's nature and the structure and contents of the design process. To enable the student to use the theory of technical systems for solving structuring and classification tasks.
|
Contents: The following aspects of TS and the synthesis of TS are considered:
- System theory, domain theory, model theory, models for synthesis.
- Property theory, property models, quality, quality determining characteristics.
- Design systematic, classification, morphology.
- TS's structure, principles of structuring, configuration, variety, kinship.
- The evolution of products, synthesis and life cycle.
- Procedures and approaches in design, design types.
- Methodology for synthesis and its relation to TS's theory.
- Modelling in synthesis work (property modelling, visualisation, prototypes).
- Theories of special machine areas, design principles.
- Product modelling, knowledge data bases.
The course consists of lectures, afternoon exercises and several short group exercises for training in the use of models and methods.
A project on selected themes from this course may be arranged in the frames of 72401 Engineering Design Projects.
