Aim: To give a holistic understanding of the urban hydrological cycle with emphasis on stormwater and wastewater, including the related mass flows and the environmental effects, and potential interventions.
Contents: The course includes rainfall-runoff in urban areas, pollution sources, polluting substances and environmental effects, pollution wash-off, re-use and infiltration of stormwater, influence on urban groundwater, source control, transport and transformation in sewer systems, attenuation of pollution in structures, decentral treatment technologies, processes in urban wetlands and streams, monitoring and real time control of sewer systems. The course introduces both determinstic and stochastic model descriptions.
