Aim: Through lectures and a group project the students are provided with knownledge on an operational level on biotechnological principles applied within the environmental area for the treatment of waste gases, waste water, solid waste and contaminated soil. .
|
Contents: Microorganisms and their potential and limitations for environmental purposes; principle of aerobic and anaerobic microbial conversion; principle of microbial growth; biofilms; biomass characterization, use of microbes for composting, biogas production, gas treatment, soil treatment, removal of xenobiotics, anaerobic waste water treatment; modelling of anaerobic processes. Modelling of environmental biotechnological processes is used extensively during the project as an important tool for understanding of processes.
