Aim: To enable the students to A) To analyse temperatures and stresses during welding. B) To analyse and calculate the relationship between materials process parameters for a welding process.
Contents: Analytical solutions for moving heat sources. Rosenthal's solutions. Peak temperatures. Calculation of delta t8/5. Numerical simulation of temperaturs in welding, finite difference method. Thermal induced distortions and stresses. Plastic deformation, transient and residual deformations and stresses. Analytical and numerical methods. Structures of materials, treatment in relation to welding. Analysis of metallurgically based welding defects. Specification of welding processes and parameters to prevent welding defects.
