Aim: To give the students insight in how mathematical and physical models can be used in designing ships and other offshore structures.
Contents: Definition of the marine technology profession. Function and design of ships and offshore structures. Methods for calculation of trim and stability of floating structures. Propulsion, resistance and manoeuvring. Wave theory, sea-worthiness, wave inducing loads. Strength analysis. Safety at sea.
