Aim: - describe types of ships and cargohandling arrangements.
- describe the arrangement of structural elements in the ship hull.
- analyse the bending strength of lateral loaded plating.
- analyse the bucking strength of axial loaded plating.
- apply elementary beam and plate theory in the structural design of stiffeners and plating in the ship hull.
Contents: - Ship terminology, Danish and English.
- Arrangement of cargo holds and cargohandliing equipment in dry cargo vessels and oil tankers.
- Preliminary General Arrangement drawing.
- Double bottom scantings based on fundamental plate and beam theory.
