Aim: - interpret and use the rules of ship classification societies in the structural design of the ship hull.
- combine shipbuilding design and elementary structural mechanics in the strength analysis of typical structural eelements in the ship hull.
- prepare steel drawings according to standards set by shipyards and ship classification societies.
Contents: Loads on the ship hull:
- Design loads on the ship hull and typical ship structural elements, e.g. shell and deck plating, framing, beams, double bottom, etc.
Modelling:
- Design procedures for ship structural elements.
Design analysis:
- Local strength of the ship structure using elementary structural mechanics and the rules of ship classification societies.
