Remarks: The course is a valuable basis for C5757 Sediment Transport in Rivers and in the Coastal Zone, and is furthermore useful in connection with C5721 Computational Hydraulics.
Minor Project/Design
Department: Department of Hydrodynamics and Water Resources
Aim: To give the students experience in handling more complex flow problems, theoretical and/or practical.
Contents: Longshore currents shall be described in far greater detail than in 57105 Basic Hydraulics 2. It is particularly important to describe the bed friction in a combined wave/current movement in more detail (the influence of the waves must be included), and a subroutine for a computer program must be developed. Together with a description of the driving forces this subroutine shall be used to develop a general computer program for longshore currents.
