Aim: To provide a fundamental framework in bioelectromagnetism for students who want to do projects (midterm an final) in areas of bioelectric data acquisition instrumentation, bioelectric signal processing, and numerical modeling and simulation of bioelectric signals from the brain, heart and muscles.
|
Contents: At the cellular level: membrane properties (Nernst and Goldman equations), cable equations, action potential models (Hodgkin-Huxley). At the body level: Equations describing bioelectric and biomagnetic fields, and models for describing recording and stimulating electrodes. The theories and methods for clinical measurements are presented, e.g.: electrocardiography (ECG), magnetocardiography (MCG), electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), and electromyography (EMG).
