Aim: To give the students an introduction to social importance of technology and introduce a basis for the participants choice of study and the type of competence, it is intended to accomplish.
Contents: Specific elements of electronic engineering will be introduced, together with a presentation of the structure of industry in the field of electronics and computing. Societal regulation and activities in research and innovation with relation to the field will be discussed. In addition examples of engineering work and the need for knowledge and practical competences to carry out these types of jobs will be presented. In a broader perspective the relationship between society and technology will be introduced, and ethical dimensions of engineering work will be discussed.
