Department: Department of Technology and Social Sciences
Aim: To give background knowledge on social, economic, political and cultural factors of relevance to the field study assignments of the participating students concerning environment and development during their extended field stay in Malaysia. To explore specific problems defined on the basis of the topics of the field study assignmants of the participating students and illustrate them as reflected in the Malaysian context.
Contents: The course programme of each run of the field course is defined specificly in accordance with the needs of the participating students, as reflected in their individual, selected field study assignments. The field course is conducted as an intensive 3 weeks programme at a local host university. Local faculty contribute along with Danish faculty to the lectures, excursions, group discussions and exercises. The students are required to present problems involved in working on their individual field study assignment for plenary discussions. Thus, the course provide an exchange of experiences within the group of students currently conducting field work in Malaysia, as well as individual tuition by Danish and Malaysian faculty.
