Aim: To provide an introduction to the theory for flow, energy transport and mass transport.
|
Contents: The course is devoted to three main topics:
1. Flow: Definition of viscosity and simple shell balances. Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids. Equation of mass conservation and Navier-Stokes equation. Nondimensional groups. Bernouillis equation. Unsteady flow and flow in 2D. Stability and turbulence. Friction factors. Macroscopic balances.
2: Energy transport. Equation of energy for nonisothermal systems. Nondimensional groups. Unsteady heat transport and heat transport in 2D. Energy transport by convection. Energy transport in turbulent flow. Radiation. Correlations for heat transfer.
3: Mass transport. Theory of diffusion (definition of fluxes, Ficks law). Simple shell balances with convection, diffusion and chemical reaction. Multicomponent diffusion. Nondimensional groups. Unsteady diffusion and diffusion in 2D. Correlations for mass transfer.
